Trip together with my friend and partner Dr. Karel Cerny (Innsbruck, Austria) to some new collecting place in eastern Thailand. On these trip Dr. Cerny get about 15 new species of Arctiidae (Lithosiinae). The descriptions of these species will be following in the next time.

Our first place is a small mountain range near Wang Nam Khiew, about 600 meters high in Nakhon Ratchasima province. The Weather was a little bit windy and cool,

about 16 degree at nighttime.

Next morning we start to Chanthaburi province in the southeast of Thailand.

And on first day we are a little bit late, so we stay in a plantation with forest edge on a altitude of about 120 meter.

The night was very windy and also cool.

On next day, we look for a better place and found a small plateau, 150 meters high with rainforest in good condition. There was also very windy and cold at nighttime but the sphingidae moths come to the light trap very well.

Our next destination is a small mountain pass about 300 meters high in Buriram province. After exploring the region we see an old abandoned temple and we stay there at nighttime. I found some Gecko of the genus Gecko and it was also interesting to see how termite soldiers protect their workers from an attack of some ants.

Our next place was also very interesting because of the landscape and the dry forest in a very sandy area. This place was about 220 meters high in Surin province.

We continue along the Cambodian border and stay for 2 nights near the Phu Chong Na Yoi NP in Ubon Ratchathani province at an altitude of about 220 meters. There was a mixed evergreen /deciduous forest in good condition and some very friendly forest soldier will stay with us at night.

Then we drive along the Cambodian and Laotian border north toward and stay one night next to the Mekong river also Ubon Ratchathani province at a altitude of about 150 meters in a deciduous dipterocarp forest with many cycads in the understory

On next evening we reached Phu Phan NP in Sakon Nakhon province and stay there for 3 nights.

The landscape and vegetation was very interesting, with sandstone banks and

some moist area with many carnivorous plants. We stay there on a forest edge with dry dipterocarp forest and transition to semi evergreen forest on an altitude of about 400 meters.

Then we stay for 3 nights on a well known place near Nam Nao NP in Petchabun province on an altitude of about 700 meters. There are some forest edges and cultivated area and I found some unknown Sphingidae larva, after rearing of about 2 weeks the pupa will be hatch and the species is Polyptychus trilineatus.

At night we see many Saturniidae and Sphingidae on the light trap but also many Arctiidae, especially Lithosiinae and some very interesting Lasiocampidae.

The last 2 days we stay on another well known place Doi Mussoe in Tak province on an altitude of about 800 meters. There was also some Saturniidae but at most many specimens of the species Lyssa zampa (Uraniidae).
