In this year Dr. Karel Cerny (Innsbruck, Austria) visit me again and we go together to the mountains of northern Thailand.

Our first place was a small Resort on the foothills of Doi Chiang Dao (Chiang Mai province), the third highest mountain in Thailand with an altitude of 2175 meter. We stay there on a lowland forest about 500 meters high.

Next morning we start to the second highest mountain of Thailand, Doi Pha Hom Pok (Chiang Mai province) with a altitude of 2285 meter and we stay there 2100 meter high

The forest was a evergreen highland forest with thundershowers on nighttime and sometimes sunny on daytime. The temperature was about 22 degree on day and 13 degree at nighttime.

Next two day’s we go to Doi Angkhang (Chiang Mai province) there was also highland evergreen forest mixed with pine trees. We stay there on an altitude of 1400 meter.

After some days in Chiang Mai province we go to the next province Chiang Rai and stay there on a mountain pass near Wiang Pa Pao on a altitude of about 1080 meter. There was mixed semi evergreen forest with many pine trees also. On the top of one mountain we found a simple abandoned temple and stay there over night.

On the next day we stay one night more of the mountain pass near Wiang Pa Pao (Chiang Rai province) but on little higher place with a altitude of about 1200 meter there was also mixed semi evergreen forest but less pine trees and better relief for the light trap. After this night we drive to Phayao province and stay there one night in the lowland in a small forest ranger station of Tham Pa Tup Forest Park. (The last 3 picture)

The next province was Nan and after some kilometer on a dirt road and a crossing of a small river we can stay on the top of a small hill in a water research station near Ban Louang surrounded by deciduous forest on an altitude of nearly 600 meter.

One day later we drive again over a small mountain pass near Nan (Nan province) and stay there next to the road on a view point. The altitude was about 800 meter high with deciduous and evergreen forest trees. There was also many white flowers with butterflies.

One next morning we drive nearly the whole day to Chae Son National Park in Lampang province. We stay there on a nice mountain view of a altitude about 1500 meter high. The forest was a mixed evergreen forest with many pine trees also. At nighttime the temperature was a little bit cool with about 12 degree but many moths coming to the light trap. On next morning the weather was cool also with clouds cover the mountains.
